ARCHETRIBE
Waterworks
Stretta (2005)

This remains one of my most played and favorite releases, due to its uniquely crafty and consistently organic nature.

It's a fantastic and far-reaching double CD, with overflowing and propulsive world rhythms, cosmic tribal percussion and textural chill out elements, plus a true ambient masterpiece on the 2nd CD that sounds like TUU and even better.

Already featured on Music from the Hearts of Space and Echoes, this is a CD to be played over and over… “Waterworks” is an artistic achievement across the board, bridging two distinct sound worlds with separate yet cohesive musical statements.

Matthew Davidson is at the center of the whole, with others playing duduk, sitar, touch guitar, clarinet, bouzouki, flutes, tamboura and percussion.

The second CD has a series of interlocking tracks that are generally quite lengthy, with the centerpiece being the 15 minute composition called “Letting Go”.

Highly recommended for 5Rhythms use, and movement of all kinds, as is the earlier CD by Archetribe called “Earthtones”

“Waterworks” was one of the years very best.
