Oblique Strategies - the PDF version

There are many Oblique Strategies on the web including those that will draw a random card for you. For myself, sometimes I get an overwhelming feeling that a collection of data was really fit for a specific medium. For example, Alice in Wonderland will always be a book to me. The illustrations, the binding, the paper - all scream 'book'. An animated, audio or hypertext version of Alice just does not seem right. I don't get this feeling from every book, of course. Hitchhikers Guide of the Galaxy seems to feel equally at home as a book, radio program or Infocom game. Oblique Strategies seems foreign and translated when residing on a computer. It 'wants' to be a deck of cards. There are also practical considerations. In the midst of a session it is easier for me to open a drawer than it is to open a browser.

I wanted my own set of Oblique Strategies for practical reasons. Supply and demand being what they are, obtaining an original set is beyond my means. In other words, the collectors value for a set of Oblique Strategies far exceeds it's practical value. So - I made my own. From there it was a simple step to generate a PDF file.

This file is not perfect - it was created quickly for personal use. The type may be too small for older eyes. It may contain mistakes. It is what it is. The cards represent a collection of the multiple revisions that exist. You may choose to remove duplicates of slightly modified cards. There is also additional space at the end to create your own Oblique Strategies.

Instructions: download the PDF file and print it out on a laser printer onto card/cover stock. Most laser printers provide the ability to hand feed stock and open up the rear end to provide a straight paper path. Crop marks are provided for cutting the finished stock. I found using a metal ruler and a heavy duty razor black works better than a paper cutter.
